COUNCIL SEALS THE DEAL

The unearthed natural resources within the territorial boundaries of Lüderitz, has necessitated the commercial value addition aimed at complimenting the value chain of the various economies of scale. The negotiations between the Council and private property developer SAFLAND, that started during September 2022 has culminated in the inking of the Deed of Sale for the development of a shopping complex to the tune of One Hundred and Eighty Million Namibian Dollars (N$ 180 000 000.00) in the town of Lüderitz. The signing of the contract took place on the 17 October 2024 at the Old Power Station, the venue of the Lüderitz Town Council Stakeholder Conference that took place over two days from the 16 – 17 October 2024, representing Council was the Acting Chief Executive Officer Mr. Otto Shipanga and Mr. Kallie Van Der Merwe from the SAFLAND Property Group, witnessed by the First Servant His Worship, the Mayor of Lüderitz Hon. Cllr. Phillippus A. Balhao and the ||Kharas Regional Council !Nami Nûs Constituency Councillor Hon. Cllr. Suzan Ndjaleka. The construction of phase one is expected to start during the first quarter of 2025 with anticipations of adding value to the town, whilst changing its landscape through increased commerce activities in town.
