COUNCIL ADOPTS BETHANIE

The exchange of knowledge, skills and best practices between twinning organizations empowers entities to better equip themselves to perform optimally in terms of service delivery to their target populace. These types of agreements further allow for the transference of institutional machinery to aid both organizations to achieve their set strategic objectives and targets, to this end; the Lüderitz Town Council and the Bethanie Village Council entered into a 5-year Memorandum of Understanding on the 05 August 2024 in Lüderitz. The MOU was entered into by The First Servant, His Worship, the Mayor of Lüderitz Hon. Cllr. Phillippus A. Balhao and His Worship, the Mayor of Bethanie Hon. Cllr. Diedrick R. Frederick supported by Councilor’s and Administrative Staff from both entities. The MOU will focus on Local Economic Development, Infrastructure and Technical Services, Tourism Promotion, Financial Management, Fleet Management, Corporate Governance, Health and Wellness, Human Resources and Industrial Relations, Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Community Engagement and Stakeholder Management. The MOU will further strengthen the existing bonds of comradery and friendship between the two local authorities, with action plans set to be tabled for implementation under the agreement. The Bethanie Village Council administrative staff are currently on a benchmark visit to the Lüderitz Town Council, where they are being exposed to the various operational functionalities of the various departments.
