The advent of both the fossil fuel and green hydrogen sectors to Namibia via the town of Lüderitz demands for specialized skills within the disciplines that are currently not available in abundance within the country. The Namibia University of Science and Technology [NUST] under the tutelage of its Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Erold Naomab and his executive engaged the Council on the 02 July 2024 for the acquisition of land for the construction of a fully-fledged University. The University has earmarked the town of Lüderitz, as a strategic hub within their expansion plans, to further compliment the regional academic capacity and skills impartation. The envisaged campus will be focused on Research and Development with a specific emphasis on Green Hydrogen whilst equally offering post-graduate courses, other courses relevant to the various new sectors are mooted for offering at the campus. The team from NUST was received by Her Worship, the Deputy Mayor Hon. Cllr. Brigitte Fredericks and other Councilors’ assisted by the Council’s administration team.
